Zig Zag Windsor to Colo

A sunny but cold Sunday morning greeted the eight cars that met at McDonalds Windsor for a trip to the Colo Riverside Café for brunch. Our original plan was to tackle a route that would take us on the Sackville and Lower Portland ferries but unfortunately they were both out of commission for maintenance and / or flooding so an alternate route had to be devised.
We therefore headed on a merry dance zig zagging between the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains areas for 90 minutes before arriving at Colo. This route took us along some great backroads through Wilberforce, Ebenezer, Lower Portland, North Richmond, Gross Vale & Kurrajong before heading back down Blaxland’s Ridge Road to hook up with the Putty for the final few kilometres to our destination.
I hadn’t been to the Colo Riverside Cafe for a few years so I was a little bit worried about what the food was going to be like and even though the place was very busy when we all eventually got our meals we agreed the food was great and pretty good value.
After the usual catch ups and stories we parted ways and all head home straight back down the Putty. I was genuinely surprised how good the food was so hopefully when the ferries both re-open we might find our way back here one day.
