Twilight Run to Bottega B
18 January 2025 / Zan Dimovski and Rob Giacometti
It was a drizzly Saturday evening when we set off for a scenic drive to Bundanoon for dinner. A group of 11 spread across 6 cars, gathered at Hungry Jack’s in Haywards Bay, ready to embark on the journey. The drive offered rolling countryside views, lively chatter on the radios, and the camaraderie that makes these outings special.
The convoy of six cars, joined by another five members in a seventh car, cruised through the lush landscapes of the Southern Highlands, navigating winding roads boarded by towering trees. Along the way, cheerful waves were exchanged at traffic stops, and playlists synced with the rhythmic hum of engines, creating a light-hearted atmosphere.
“Only two Magnificent Macho Men and their Mechanical Masterpieces from the Wellington Drive sub chapter of the Illawarra Chapter (together with Max’s Special Passenger) tackled the Maniacally Messed up Moresby Hill Road leg of the route and thus were the only ones to complete the drive as per the run sheet, whereas the remaining convoy took the cleaner route option!!” (Roberto Giacometti)
As the daylight faded below the horizon, the group arrived in Bundanoon, greeted by its quaint charm under the glow of evening lights. At Bottega B Ristorante, six more members awaited, completing the gathering. The ristorante exuded a warm and elegant atmosphere, with the tantalising aroma of freshly baked pizza and sizzling herbs welcoming everyone at the door.
A shared menu had been prepared, starting with mixed arancini balls, salt-and-pepper squid, and warm olives. The main courses followed, offering a delicious selection of delicate pizzas, rich bolognese pasta, and chili prawn fettuccine.
Conversation flowed as freely as the wine, with laughter filling the cozy space. Stories were exchanged, and bonds of friendship grew even stronger. The evening also marked a special celebration as we welcomed four new members to the club - Tammy, Milly, Ivy, and Ruby.
What began as a simple drive with friends turned into an unforgettable night of shared joy, delicious food, and lasting memories.
A heartfelt thank you to Rob for organising such a wonderful evening for us all to enjoy!
P.S. This little gem of an eatery will not exist after February, so if you are interested in purchasing, or know anyone that is interested in purchasing a fully functioning ready to go Trattoria style establishment, reach out to the owner Fiona pronto.
