Happy Birthday to the Mazda MX-5 Club of NSW

Today the 24th June is our official 30th Birthday. 

On this day 30 years ago 104 people signed up to become the foundation members of this great club.  Two weeks later, on the 8th of July the first run was held. Currently we have 4 members that were at that first meeting. We were one of the first Mazda MX-5 Clubs in the world. Since that humble beginning this mighty club has grown to over 1000 members and 7 chapters.

We have become a diversified club holding events across the full spectrum of what our mighty little cars can do.  This includes club runs, dinner events, driver training and a variety of motorsport events. The club’s event calendar is such that, at this current time, there is at least an event on every week.  We have a very high participation rate across all of events we organised, for our members, and the feedback is very positive.

Over the years we have hosted a number of major events these include major celebrations for the major anniversary's of our club, a number of NatMeets, club motorsport events and major state recognised motorsport events.

Our club is recognised as being very professional and friendly when running our events.

The club is nothing without the support of its members and this club exemplifies what that support can do.

On this occasion for celebration I would like to thank the over 200 members that have volunteered to hold an official position in the club over the past 30 years.  These people are backed up by the chapter volunteers that help organise the events that keep the club so active.  Without these volunteers the club wouldn’t be what it is today.

I would also like to thank all the members for their participation and support of the club without this we would not be where we are today.

I am pleased to be a part of this great club and a part of the large number of people who have made it what it is today.

In October, this year, it is planned to have a major celebration to commemorate this great milestone in the life of this club.  Keep watching the event page on the website and join us in October to celebrate this milestone.

With out the mighty Mazda MX-5 we would not be where we are today.  What an incredible catalyst for this great club.
