Steve's Loopy Lunch Run (Version 2)

It was a clear sunny day in Canberra for a run on the first day of Spring. Three cars assembled at the Hall lay-by for the second Steve's Loopy picnic run to Uriarra Crossing. Ideal weather for a top down run under a blue sky and a slight breeze.

Nanima Road still has its uneven surface that is a real test for the firm suspension on a MX5. After that, the run was smooth through Gundaroo to Gunning and the Hume Highway. Those potholes, from the recent storms, have been repaired.

We decided to have a short coffee stop at Yass en route to Uriarra. A takeaway coffee from The Roses Cafe was enjoyed in the well-maintained Banjo Paterson Park. After that refreshing caffeine hit, we ventured onto Wee Jasper and Mountain Creek Roads. Very little or no traffic on these twisty roads with views over lush green fields. Due to no traffic, we had a photo stop at the Taemas Bridge that crosses the Murrumbidgee River and the backwaters of the Burrinjuck Dam.

In reasonably short time we were at the Uriarra East picnic area. Being a Tuesday, the picnic area was deserted a very different picture to the previous run on Sunday. Therefore, our choice of tables and the one nearest to the river was the pick of the bunch.

After time enjoying lunch and solving the world's problems, it was the drive home during the school pick-up traffic.

Arrived home with 213 kilometres on the trip meter and reflected on a very enjoyable day in the MX-5 and with good company!
