South Coast Goes to 35th Anniversary

21 June, 2025

It was a sunny, tops down drive as we started off to the 35th MX5 Anniversary function from North Nowra. Rather than heading up the highway, Geoff took us on the scenic route through Kangaroo Valley, the southern highlands and Razorback and on to our destination, Gledswood Homestead and Winery.

A concrete truck ensured our drive got off to a slow start, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine. At the first opportunity he pulled over to let us pass and then the convoy was off, not exceeding the speed limit of course. This dream run didn’t last long as a thick fog enveloped us. Beanies went on and heaters were blowing at full force but our tops stayed down.  The sun returned as we got to the top of Barrengarry Mountain. From here to Gledswood Winery was a good drive, with the one obligatory U-turn included.

MX5’s lined up in their respective categories were a magnificent sight, with most of them preened and polished for the event. The function highlight was a live call from the US with Brian Hall who was instrumental in the development of the MX5. Well done to the organisers, it was an enjoyable day and nice to have the opportunity to meet up with so many members from different Chapters.

It was great to be joined for the day by our Major Sponsor, Ian Henry and wife Deborah. We hope they join us on many more future runs

Highlight… Bob and Linda’s car made it as part of the decorations on the anniversary cake.
