Round 1 of the 2019 MX-5 Club Motorkhana Championship has been run and won!
10th March was a good day for a motorkhana – warm but not too hot. The Sydney 300 on the GP circuit also added some extra interest.
38 competitors entered the 1st round of the 3 round 2019 motorkhana Championship, made up of 4 ladies, 1 junior, 7 non-MX5s, with the remainder in the Open class.
The battle at the pointing end was (as expected) fierce, with James Russell-Cook coming out on top in the Open class, followed by a tight battle for 2nd between Gus Elias and John Karayannis, with Gus just edging John out for 2nd place.
In the ladies class, there wasn’t too much in it either, with Kareene Kavanagh coming out on top (15th outright) followed by Lindsay Green and Francesca Meliton.
Alex Shedden had the juniors class all to himself, finishing 27th outright, and was seen demonstrating some of his fathers flair on the skidpad. 😊
Fastest of the non-MX-5s was Phillip Donnelley in the Golf GTI in 11th outright place.
The results from the first round are on the Club website:
