Presidents Picnic 2018

Another successful President’s Picnic was held at the Ebenezer Church Grounds. 234 people signed on, there were 141 MX-5 parked in the grounds, of which 51 cars were entered in Show & Shine, 13 track cars for the Guy Coles Memorial Trophy, 9 cars each in Concours and Modified MX-5 categories.
The event could not take place without the support of the 48 volunteers who helped with morning tea, lunch, registration, parking, Peoples Choice, the charity bucket and judging the various classes in competition. To all those members who gave up their time on the day to support the event, I convey the appreciations of the Club for their assistance.
On the day we collected for the Ebenezer Church restoration fund $448.80 in the charity buckets that Ted Brill accepted on behalf if the church whist expressing their appreciation for the donation, our use and the care we take in being our MX-5 onto their well maintained grounds.
In competition this year there were 4 traditional classes of trophies which could not be individually issued as there were not the minimum requirement of 3 cars entered before the event. A new class of trophy was created for those members who went to the trouble of preparing their cars for competition to give them the opportunity of winning a trophy for their efforts. These trophies were each called the “Open Class” in both the Concours and Modified MX-5 category. The winners of Club trophies for 2018 were as follows:

The President’s Picnic and events will be held again next year. Any member having a suggestion on how to improve the event for all attending in future are welcome to send their suggestions to captain@mx5.com.au before the end of October 2018. All suggestions received will be given to the Committee in November and placed on the agenda for our Convenors Conference on 1st December 2018.
