Mystery Run – 10 March 2026

11 March 2026 / Words and photos by Peter Wilson

A light fog this morning with a low of around 13 degrees, however it is Autumn and Winter is just around the corner. Seven members in five cars attended Daughters at Hall, for a brew before our scheduled departure at 10:00am. An enjoyable drive along Nanima Road until someone parked on the side gravel strip had finished their phone call and therefore decided to continue their trip on the bitumen. Apparently, there is no need to check the mirrors, just pull out and test the braking system of cars travelling behind! After that tense moment, we continued a pleasant traffic free drive to Gunning, Grabben Gullen and onto Range Road for the drive to Goulburn. The roads are in relatively good condition at the moment, those potholes we experienced over the past few years have disappeared.

Lunch was at the Soldiers Club with a view of Belmore Park. After lunch we tested the drive on the old Hume Highway via Breadalbane. It’s hard to believe this route was once the main road between Sydney and Melbourne. Recent roadwork has vastly improved the condition. Afternoon coffee was planned for Gunning although only one café is open on Tuesday and not considered to be an acceptable standard for our coffee aficionados. Therefore, ice creams were the order for the day.

I arrived home at 3.10pm with 258kms on the trip meter.  Thanks to all on the run today.
