MX-5 Cup Round 4 Wrap
25 July 2019 / Story by Paul Nudd, Photos by Alek Hoskins, Video by Stuart McFadyen
It was a fabulous day of MX-5 Cup racing at Sydney Motorsport Park GP circuit on Sunday 21 July 2019. Ten MX-5s entered for Round 4 and we were combined on-track with RX-8s and Group N Historic and Invited Touring Cars.
Curran Brennan took the chequered flag in all three races, closely followed by Tim Herring. Click HERE for a more detailed story from SB Auto and lots more of Alek's great photos.
Class A was a close battle between Stuart McFadyen and Ben Cathcart with Stuart coming out on top in races 1 and 2 and Ben in race 3. Stuart's video of the last race is definitely worth a watch! Stuart livestreams his races so make sure you follow his Facebook page if you're keen to see more.
Third in Class A was the rapidly improving newcomer Mitchell Hall, finishing the day with a 1:50.4268 - watch this space.
Class B was contested by Craig Barney, Steven Head and Paul Nudd. A close contest between Steven and Paul resolved to three wins for Paul and three second places for Steven.
Class C consisted of the two Robs, Herrick and Withers. Again very close with Rob Herrick in front in races 1 and 2. In race 3 Rob Herrick made one costly mistake and Rob Withers got through and held onto his position to the chequered flag.
Being on-track with the RX-8 Cup cars worked out just fine. A great day was had by all.
2019 MX-5 Cup Round 5 will be at Wakefield Park on Saturday 24 August as part of MRA Round 7. Entries are open now - click HERE. Being at Wakefield Park, the entry fee is lower at only $270.
