Hunter Putty Power Run

10 members in 7 MX-5s, and 1 Mustang ring in (our newest Hunter member who it still waiting for his ND to arrive), turned up on this heavily clouded Monday morning for the putty power run. After a quick briefing we departed Beresfield Hungry Jacks right on time at 9am. Despite a few roadworks, and numerous potholes, many deep enough to swallow an NC, nobody had lost any important parts by the time we stopped at Broke for refreshments.

By this time the skies had cleared to make room for a blistering sun, and the temperature soared to the mid 30s. After spending the obligatory number of minutes ooing and ahhing over the ND's and investigating all the relevant specs of the Mustang, it was time for a quick drive up Milbrodale Rd to the beginning of The Putty.

We paused at Milbrodale school for a moment to reorder ourselves, ensuring those who wanted to just cruise along were behind those seeking a more spirited run, before embarking on the final leg of our journey. The most exciting section of our adventure was happily also the least eventful. Traffic was light, as could be expected, and what little slow traffic appeared always seemed to come at just the right times to be overtaken, for the most part.

All too soon we arrived at Grey Gums, where half the group piled their cars in around the lone tree in the carpark for some shade, while the rest of us spread out in the sun. As usual the small staff at the most sensibly located cafe in Australia outdid themselves, with beautiful burgers and ice cold milkshakes, as well as smashing sandwhiches and tasty pots of tea, all delivered within a reasonable timeframe.

Once everyone had eaten and told a few stories, it was time to take off home, in dribs and drabs, either back the way we came, or for some, via MX5 Mania and Galston Gorge. We were even joined by a pair of members on their way north after the SMSP track day the day prior, who were nice enough to escort a young L plater back to the Milbrodale Rd turnoff.
In all it was a great mid week run, considering the run leader was a first timer, and those of you that had to work are right to be jealous, just as we were all slightly jealous that we weren't in Tassie.
