Another great FOSC 2-day event at the Sydney Motor Sport Park South Circuit.
There was a good turnout of MX-5, particularly on Saturday, with 6 MX-5's running in Regularity races, and 7 MX-5's in the Historic and Invited Sport/Touring races. With up to 12 MX-5s pitting together on either Saturday or Sunday, we put together 3 marques to make a little tent city which worked well providing shade and also a central social point for everyone.
A number of club members drop by over the weekend, Bryan "Kojak" Shedden. Jean Cook and Greg Perry. The funniest moment of the weekend was when it took Jean at least 30 seconds to recognise Bryan with his new coiffure.
We also had the entertainment of one MX-5 pilot, who will remain nameless, who arrived back in the pits after one of his races in a very agitated state, after some close racing with a non-MX-5 competitor who was not being gentlemanly. Anyway, tempers soon cooled, but it was fun to watch while it lasted!
On Saturday, Daniel Deckers and Matilda Mravicic, both in MX-5s, took a clean sweep of the first 2 places in all the Historic and Invited Sport/Touring races. On Sunday, Daniel returned to again win all the races, but just missed out on a sub 1 minute lap with a best of 1:00.1439
In the ragularity races over the weekend, Glenn Thomas & Stewart Temesvary were the standouts in MX-5s, with a number of wins and podium finishes between them. In the end, Glenn finished top of the MX-5 drivers with 241 penalty points, followed by Stewart with 313 points.
A big thanks from all the MX-5 drivers to Charles Jardine and the rest of the FOSC organisers for staging a very enjoyable event.
