Farm Club Cafe Brunch

26 June 2025

After the gale force winds of the previous day, today looked like it may have blown away with the morning dawning bright and wind free. Although it was still a little chilly in the shadows. Our small group of five in three cars met at North Nowra Tavern and after the usual chat we embarked on the climb up Cambewarra Mountain. The climb to the top was accomplished without any difficulty. Shortly after cresting the top we joined on the tail of a queue headed by a motor home which we followed almost into Kangaroo Valley before he pulled over to let the vehicles behind pass. The climb up Barrengarry was a breeze with no hold ups until we were forced to slow behind a Truck/Trailer just before Fitzroy Falls, luckily he turned off shortly afterwards. We then had a clear run through the highland countryside to our destination at Farm Club Cafe where we were met by Adele from Illawarra. The chatter started in earnest. This is a popular venue for both car and motorbike enthusiasts. A Lotus 7 lookalike was already there, with us soon joined by a number of motor cycles and an immaculate Austin Healey 100/6 from the 1960's. We found a seat with some sun and were all soon enjoying our coffee, cakes or pies and covering many subjects in our conversation, of course not always MX5 or club related. After we were all adequately fed and watered it was time to shop for freshly made pies, sausages or other types of meat to fill the freezer. Once done, we all departed for home via our different ways. A relaxing brunch with friends after a short but exhilarating drive seemed a good way to spend an early winter day.
