Bulga Tavern
Sunday Oct 2024
A small group of eight from the Sydney chapter set off from Mount Colah for a run to the Bulga tavern near Broke via Wollombi. The group included two potential new members Martyn and Liz who wanted to check out what an MX-5 club run is all about. They have a very tidy 2018 ND with 11,000kms on the clock! I think we have managed to convince them to use the car more often.
The first part of the run to Wollombi got off to a shaky start as we had detour off the Old Pacific Highway onto the M1 until Mt White, due to a bad accident that happened earlier. The rest of the run was uneventful and the Laguna Wollombi Valley at the moment is many shades of green with plenty of water in the creeks, it looks great. A real bonus was the roadworks between Wollombi and Broke are now virtually complete and therefore there were no delays and it was very pleasant run.
Sydney organised this event as a joint run with the Hunter Chapter and we met up with them at the Bulga Tavern together with a lot of senior motor bike riders. Hunter put us to shame in relation to attendance as they mustered up 23 members our only excuse was that it was in their backyard.
It was great to catch up with familiar and some new faces and enjoy a pleasant lunch, the perfect MX-5 weather and the opportunity to plan for some more joint runs in 2025. Also David and Elaine gave us a great run down on what is being planned for Natmeet 2026.
