The 2nd round of the 2019 MX-5 Club motorkhana series was run on a cool but sunny day on the 14th July at the Sydney Motorsport Park skidpan.
A total of 39 competitors lined up on the day, with 3 ladies, 3 juniors, 11 non MX-5s and 22 in the Open class.
The winner on the day was James Russell-Cook, finishing 7 seconds clear of 2nd placed John Karayannis. Paul Rodgers in the Porsche Boxster split the MX-5s at the pointy end of the field to claim 3rd outright. Gus Elias and Mark Kavanagh rounded out the top five, with only a single second separating 3rd to 5th.
Kareene Kavanagh came out on top in the ladies class, with Francesca Meliton finishing in 2nd place.
In the juniors, Alex Shedden took out 1st place with some good, clean driving. He faced a strong challenge from Logan Tomczynski who finished less than a second behind.
The Passenger Ride Activity proved very popular, with 33 passengers signing up to head out on the skidpan.
