2015 - A Year of Membership Records
15 January 2016 / Bryan Shedden
How do you measure "success" for a car club? One sure fire method is to look at membership records.
In 2015, our silver anniversary year, financial membership of the MX-5 Club of NSW passed the 800 mark. The last six years have witnessed a period of consistent and strong growth. This is quite remarkable when you consider that period corresponds with the twilight years for the NC MX-5 when sales fell to a dribble.
Expansion into new regional Chapters (Illawarra, RPM, Mid North Coast) - supported by the continual popularity of our older Chapters (Canberra, Hunter, Sydney) - has underpinned the influx of new members to the Club. When 200 new members joined the Club in 2014, we were amazed. But the launch of the ND MX-5 has sparked a flood of new members - 246 in 2015 - many of whom are former members returning to the fold.
Success? You bet!
And on we go. 2016 will be the first full year for ND MX-5 sales and should continue to drive strong growth in new memberships. How long until we reach the magical 1000 mark? Only time will tell, but I am confident that we're on the right path and it will happen before our next major anniversary of 30 years in 2020.
