Wheels of Wamboin 2025

It was a very foggy morning on my trip to Wamboin for their annual Show & Shine. In many places I was down to 50k/s hour and intensely on the lookout for roos.

Wamboin is a semi-rural area 30 mins dive south-east of Canberra. The event is held at the Rural Fire Brigade station with all proceeds of the day going to the Brigade.

I arrived at 8am and to my surprise there were already hundreds of cars there. Most were hidden in the fog. I managed to semi-secure a small area at the end of a row where we had room for our 6 cars and our gazebo.

The fog cleared about 10am revealing 500 to 600 cars in all shapes and sized, even a Tesla powered Range Rover.

Also on site are local markets where everything is homemade or home grown. With so many people there I’m sure they had a very busy day.

Next year I will have the attending members assemble at Eagle Hawk at 7:30am and proceed to the site in convey as this way we all arrive together and are therefore parked together.

The Show & Shine site was full by 8:30am and so later arrivals had to park in the public car park or on the side of the road. The event is more popular each year so next year get there early.

Cheers Steve
