Wheels 2025

The annual ACT and region multi-marques car show, Wheels, was held again on 16 February 2025. Whenever I attend Wheels I am reminded that it is a large show that is well supported by all the car clubs from the Canberra/Queanbeyan region. Wheels 2025 was sponsored by Famous Insurance Brokers.

Sunday was fine and sunny. Ten MX5 cars with 12 members met in Queanbeyan and did a short run in convoy to the Queanbeyan Showground. We were able to park together and the new $5 per car fee goes to support a  new respite program in Queanbeyan.

There was a great diversity of cars and bikes on display. Some of my favourites were: the collection of microcars at the entrance to the arena, including a chain-driven Honda 600. A highlight was the one-of-a-kind beautiful, restored red mini streamlined 3-wheeler car, a Hillcrest. Oh, and a 1920’s era Stanley Steamer which went for an exhibition drive. Wheels does bring out the diversity of vehicles within the region.

Three of the MX5 group joined us from Sydney: Wilko, and Joe and Kristina Kovacic. Joe’s highly-collectable 30th Anniversary Orange ND MX5 won the Wheels award for Best Modern Vehicle.

Congratulations to the Council for a well-run and enjoyable event.

See you at Wheels next year, Brett
