Australian Motor Life Museum

31 July, 2025

Six MX5’s met on a stormy Thursday morning at Bomaderry Hungry Jacks for a run to the Motor Life Museum in Dapto. We travelled up the highway to Kiama where we took a slight detour via Saddleback Mountain to the Blue Jay Cafe in Albion Park for morning tea. It is a well-known fact that South Coast MX5’s have an aversion to freeways.

Coffee, cakes and a bacon & egg roll later we headed off to the museum.

The Australian Motor Life Museum has an impressive collection of unique vehicles and memorabilia. We saw several Australian made cars such as Chic, Summit, Renown and Lynn that I never knew existed and several other cars that were the only known examples left in the world.

My favourite was the Auburn closely followed by a glorious Packard two-seater sports car the size of a small truck. Bob Olde was impressed by the Lotus Elan but expressed the concern that if he managed to get in it there was no way he could get out.

If you have not already visited the Australian Motor Life Museum it is well and truly worth the journey.

After an extensive analysis of every nut and bolt it was time for lunch so we headed off to the Passionate Palate in Kanahooka for a relaxed lunch

Another great MX5 run for the South Coast Chapter.
