More Women Behind the Wheel

Coffee on the Double (Big Red Bus) in Tomerong was the meeting point for the start of our run to Women Behind the Wheel. Rose got halfway there and had to return home to get the radios which were waiting in the garage. Hence she was the last one to arrive for coffee. Thankfully, it was a perfect winters day to sit outside while we waited for our tea and coffee to arrive. It took quite a while to get them as the place was packed and they were having trouble with their coffee machine. It was worth the wait as the coffee got a perfect score; however, the tea failed to make the grade. It was a pity we had to almost scull our drinks to ensure we left on time.

Rose and Karen led the small tops down convoy, with Dewi in the middle and Kim and visitor Margaret being our Tail End Charlie. We had a clear run up through Kangaroo Valley except for being stopped for the usual roadworks which are visibly progressing… but still a long way to go. As we approached the end of Nowra Road, Karen got to test her navigator skills and guided us expertly to our destination, Peppers Manor House in Sutton Forest. Initially, there was a slight bit of confusion as another MX5 group was using the same radio frequency.

In the car park at Peppers we met up with Illawarra, RPM and Sydney Chapter members. After many photos were taken, we all shared a delicious High Tea. It was fantastic to meet so many new people and to see so many women who enjoyed driving their MX5’s.
