A group of ten MX5s met at Huntlee McDonalds for a 8.45 am getaway, where we headed off through Pokolbin to start our Putty Road to Windsor day out.
We took a few backroads through Pokolbin, which allowed us to enjoy the beautiful vineyard scenery as we headed to Broke. We then took the Putty Road to Grey Gums café for morning tea. Although the café wasn’t open, we enjoyed a byo morning tea and chat. Whilst talking to the owner, we can confirm that the café is open limited hours on a Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Whilst enjoying morning tea, the heavens opened which resulted in Lilo rushing back to their vehicle to get the roof up – nothing a bit of a wipe down couldn’t fix!
The Putty Road had a few traffic management lights on the route, but they didn’t hold us up too much, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful bush surroundings whilst waiting.
The group then continued on to the Boathouse cafe at Macquarie Park for lunch, where we met up with the RPM Chapter who had timed it perfectly, arriving at the venue at the same time as us. The majority of members enjoyed a seafood lunch, whilst a few others took advantage of burgers and pizzas. It was a very sociable lunch, with lots of chatter and laughter. Jen and George arrived just in time for lunch as they had a later start to the day.
Lunch being had, we all said our goodbyes to the RPM chapter, then some of the Hunter Chapter headed off via Wiseman’s Ferry (thanks Phil for leading!) and others went back via the Putty Road again, or directly home via the Motorways. It was a lovely day out, and all in all the weather was fairly kind to us.
Thank you to RPM for meeting us for lunch and A huge thank you to Ray and Marlene for organising and leading the run.
