Leura Gardens Festival

It was a bright and sunny spring morning when we met in Windsor and made our way through Richmond, which turned out to be a bit of a stop–start exercise. Part of the convoy was repeatedly caught at the traffic lights. Fortunately, Sharon and John, as our tail end Charlie, did an excellent job of letting us know who was held up, and the rest of the group waited so everyone could regroup before continuing.
We then travelled along the Springwood Road, enjoying the drive as we passed through Yarramundi Reserve. The climb that followed delivered plenty of tight hairpin bends, which added to the fun.
We continued up through the mountains and arrived at Wentworth Falls Lake, where we split up for the afternoon. Some headed off to the Leura Gardens Festival, while others went in search of lunch nearby. The gardens were busy but beautiful — the sun was shining, the flowers were out, and each garden offered something a little different.
Those who had packed a picnic lunch were treated to a musical surprise at the lake — it must have been the local band.
