Hunter Mystery sunset run

19 cars and 36 members turned up for the mystery run to see the sunset by the lake as the last day of daylight savings. A collection of MX-5’s with members both new and those with many years in the club headed off from the Cameron park car park.

We could not have asked for better weather as it was both sunny and warm. Tops down we headed off taking a path to avoid major roads. Turning off to go through Holmesville, down Wakefield Road and turn again to go via Awaba to get to the Western side of Lake Macquarie and head towards Morisset and Wyee.

Across the lights at Doyalson and a quick turn up Elizabeth Bay Road to circumnavigate the lake. Here we had to join the Pacific Highway for a short way to come to our target Cams Warf.

Camms Warf had everything we needed to set out our barbeque picnic and watch the sun set over the lake. This is an unusual event as living on the eastern side of Australia the sun would normally set over land but we had come full circle to have Lake Macquarie between us and the western shore.

With two barbeques going at the same time an abundance of food was served and a lot of chatting and rejoicing about our afternoon ride. We had some club Tenure awards to give out for members we had not seen in a while,

Congratulations to

  • 10 Years for David Boyes and Lyn Davis

The evening was completed as the sun set over Lake Macquarie.
