A New Start to A New Finish Run 2026.
We thought it was about time we organized another midweek run. It is approximately 82 km, taking 1hr 30 mins, plus stop time at Bald Hill lookout.
Our meeting place today is certainly popular with a group of Illawarra Chapter members, so, as we’ve not started a run from here before, we decided to make this the venue forthe start of our run. The food is good; the service is lovely, and the outlook over the water is relaxing.
So, where is this place? It’s in Kanahooka, and it’s called ‘Passionate Palate’. The owner, Karen and her staff are always happy to see a mob of MX-5ers show up.
With that decided, where to next? We’re going to join the Princes Highway at Dapto and head towards Mount Keira Road and come out at the top of Mount Ousley. The Illawarra has a lot of Mounts. We know we’ve done it all before, but you can only get up the escarpment on a few routes. This one seems the least used by us. When we are at the top of Mount Ousley, we’ll join the M1 heading towards Sydney.
Don’t worry, we’re not going to stay on the Motorway. Our route will take us on the Old Princess Highway past Helensburgh and bring us out at Waterfall. It’s a pleasant drive with many twists and turns. We’ll exit the main road at Waterfall and go through the National Park, coming out at ‘Bald Hill’. If the weather is good, we’ll have the obligatory look at the best view on the coast.
With that done, it will be a short drive across the ‘Sea Cliff’ Bridge to our lunch destination at the ‘Black Duck Bistro’ in the Wombarra Bowling Club. The Bistro was recommended, so we tried it out. Whilst the deco is dated, we don’t think anyone will be disappointed with their service, meal or the menu choices.
Join us on a happy run with laughter, good friends, and you’ll probably eat too much.
Both of the venues have Disabled Access.
RSVP: - by Sunday 24 th May, so we can organize numbers with the venues.
Use the ‘Book Now’ button to register, and we will acknowledge your registration.
We look forward to seeing many of you out and about in our RED’s.
